Sarah McLachlan's Latest Single, "Loving You Is Easy," Celebrates Finding Love Again
Sarah McLachlan isn't performing every night on the Lilith Tour this summer just to play her greatest hits -- she's also got a new album to promote. Laws of Illusion is her first album of new, non-holiday material in seven years, and during that time, Sarah experienced a lot of changes in her personal life. She had a second child in 2007, and in 2008, she went through a painful breakup with her husband, Ashwin Sood. Eventually, though, Sarah found love again.
Sarah says her latest single, "Loving You Is Easy," was the song that really kicked off the process of creating her new album. She told us, "I think 'Loving You Is Easy' was the first song I wrote for this record, thinking, "OK, I feel like I'm coming out of the fog. I really want to start writing again. I've got a lot to say about a lot that I've been processing."
As for the song itself, Sarah says it was inspired by the fact that "out of a long, dark period in my life, the possibility of love came back in, and the possibility of "OK, life isn't over. I get to keep on going." She says being in love again -- that feeling of, as she says, "passion and being desired," was overwhelming enough to spark the song. "That I get to feel this way again, is...whoo! It's powerful stuff!" laughs Sarah.
The Lilith tour wraps up August 5th in Atlanta, Georgia. Sarah and Terry McBride, the tour's co-creator, have said they plan to bring it back for a second year, despite having to cancel ten shows this summer due to poor ticket sales.
